# Integrations overview

Optimaze provides the answers to what technology investment is producing. To do that it needs a complete, continuously updated view of what is being spent. This document explains what data connects to the platform, what is ingested, and how the economic model stays current without manual maintenance. This guide is written for finance and technology leaders evaluating or implementing the platform, and for champions preparing an internal business case.

Optimaze ingests cost and consumption data, not application code, customer records, or business logic. The platform does not require access to production systems.

**What connects to the platform**

The platform is designed to ingest spend and consumption data from across your technology estate. This covers AI inference, cloud infrastructure, and SaaS tooling. Most major providers are supported. Data normalisation or consolidation is not a prerequisite for engaging our services; that work happens inside the platform.

| **Category** | **Providers** |
| :- | :- |
| AI | OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI |
| Cloud | Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud |
| SaaS | Licence spend mapped to usage, adoption, and business outcome |

# **What data is ingested**

The platform ingests three categories of data:

* **Spend data:** provider invoices, cost and usage reports, and billing exports. This is the raw financial record of what was paid to each provider.
* **Consumption data:** token usage, API call volumes, compute hours, and storage consumption. This is the operational record of what was used.
* **Business context:** the taxonomy that maps spend to business activity, covering team structure, product lines, feature names, customer segments, and initiative labels. This is what the platform uses to attribute cost to the right owner.

Business context is defined by the organisation. Optimaze does not impose a structure; it applies yours. You define what products, teams, customers, and initiatives mean for your business.

# **How data stays current**

Keeping an economic model current typically requires ongoing analytical effort: reconciling billing changes, updating cost allocations, and maintaining tagging taxonomies. Optimaze removes that inefficiency.

Agentic processes run continuously in the background to normalise cost data across providers, resolve naming inconsistencies, and enrich billing records with the business context needed for attribution. As new billing data arrives, the model updates. There is no scheduled refresh, no manual reconciliation, and no engineering involvement required to keep the economic picture current.

# **What this means in practice**

| **Status** | **Old Way** | **New Way** |
| :- | :- | :- |
| Monthly billing reconciliation | By finance analysts | Continuous real-time model, updated as billing changes |
| Tags and cost allocation | Engineering required to update tags and cost allocation rules | Business context updated by finance teams with natural language prompting |
| Untagged spend | Reported as a coverage gap | Attributed using business context |
| Dashboards | Point-in-time dashboards that go stale between reporting cycles | Live economic model that reflects current spend in real time |

# **Implementation timelines**

Connecting data sources and getting to a working economic model does not require a lengthy implementation programme. The platform is designed for speed:

* Real-time cost allocation breakdowns are typically live within an afternoon of initial connection.
* Unit economics, including cost per outcome and cost per customer, are typically configured within days.
* Executive investment reporting is available as soon as attribution is in place.

The platform does not require a multi-month data integration project. You can start answering real questions about technology investment performance within the first week.

## **Setting up a new integration**

**Time to first data:** most integrations are live within 15 minutes. Cost allocation breakdowns are typically available the same afternoon.

### **Step 1: Navigate to Integrations**

From the main navigation sidebar, under **Data**, select **Integrations**. The Integrations page shows all available data sources as tiles, with a toggle indicating connection status for each.

### **Step 2: Add a new connection**

Click the **+ Add** button in the top right. This opens the **Connect an integration** page, which lists all available providers with a **Connect** button for each.

Click **Connect** on the provider you want to add.

### **Step 3: Complete the provider setup wizard**

Each provider uses a guided 4-step setup wizard. Step 1 collects your credentials and billing details. Steps 2-4 handle provisioning, permission grants, and a connection check automatically.

### **Step 4: Verify the connection**

Once the wizard completes, the provider tile on the Integrations page will show a green active toggle. Optimaze begins ingesting data immediately. Cost allocation breakdowns are typically available within the same session.

To view existing connections for a provider, click View integration on its tile. This opens a table listing all active connections with their billing account details, integration IDs, and report types.
