Some spend genuinely has no single owner, a shared platform, observability tooling, an enterprise licence. A showback distributes that cost across the nodes that benefit from it, so each node carries a fair share without anyone having to pretend the spend was caused by one team. Showbacks sit on top of attribution rather than replacing it. Attribute what you can first, then use showbacks for what is genuinely shared.

Add a showback

  1. Open the model in the editor (see Edit and publish a model).
  2. In the side rail, select Showbacks.
  3. Select Include showbacks so the model applies them.
  4. Select Add showback and choose the Source. For a node, also choose the Source node.
  5. Choose the Target nodes that share the cost.
  6. Choose the Method (below). A summary underneath confirms where the cost will go.
  7. Select Add, then publish the draft.
Each showback is listed with its source, number of targets and method. Use the edit icon to change one and the bin icon to remove it.

See showbacks in Analytics

In Analytics, Include allocations under More options controls whether showback amounts are included, and the Showback flows chart shows how cost moves between nodes.
